Christian Education
Sunday School- Sept 12 - June 6
St. Paul's has a Godly
Play curriculum for young children - every Sunday at the 10:00 a.m.
service (except during summer). Teens have a different program
designed by Rev. Stacy Salles. This program has been successful with our
teens. Once month the youth join Rev. Stacy Salles in leading the
worship. For children who stay with their parents, there are bags with
things to keep little hands busy. Beer and Bible Study
3rd Wednesdays in June, July, Aug. 7 p.m.
St. Paul's meets at
Thee Office Pub in Romeo
for dinner and bible study. We normally meet every third Thursday of
the month. However, through the summer, the village of Romeo hosts
Motorcycle night. Therefore, during the summer we will be holding
Beer and Bible Study Wednesday, June 17, July 21, and August 25. We
meet at 7 p.m. Hope to see you there!
Cursillo (Faith Renewal)
Cursillo is a movement of the church. Its
purpose is to help those in the church understand their individual
callings to be Christian Leaders. The leadership may be exercised in
work situations, in the family and social life, in leisure activities,
and within the Church environment. Leadership, in Cursillo, does not
mean power over others, but influence on others; all of us need to be
aware that we can exert a positive influence on those around us.
Other Christian Education
During the
season of Advent Richard Hutchinson has been offering classes on various
topics. Our Advent 2009 class was on Miracles: What are they, What are
they trying to tell us about Christ. The program was very well received.
We don't know what Richard has up his sleeve for Advent 2010. We can't
wait.
During the
season of Lent we meet on Wednesday evenings for a light supper and a
program. We have done various things. In 2008 and 2009 we studied the
Gospel according to the movies "Au Chocolate" and "Prince Caspian. This
year we dug into the parallels between Moses and Jesus. We used some
great videos helping us to explore the First and Second (Old and New)
Testament.
Youth Programs
First Communion Classes - For children who are ready to receive
communion for the first time, or children who want to learn more about
Eucharist, we offer these classes each spring.
Youth-Lock-in - Each October we have lots of fun, but also take time
to wrestle with a Biblical Theme that can help our teens live in this
world.
Diocesan
Events for Teens - We participate in Happening Weekends and the
Diocesan Youth Mission Trips, called Camp Compassion.
